Does It Really Work…or The Tale of Two Knee Braces

As anyone who knows me will tell you, I have really bad knees. It has something to do with my general DNA, but when I was 20 I was told I was going to need knee replacements by the time I was 25. I am also a stubborn woman and refused to get the knee replacements. I now live and die by the amazing knee braces I find in the world. Luckily, braces have gotten better over the years and I only have to replace them every few years. Unfortunately, this just happened to be the year I needed to replace one of them.

I found this amazing brace at CVS last weekend and bought it at full price. I know, it’s against my cardinal rules, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. I fell in love with it and wanted to get a second one so I could have the matched set (did I mention that I am OCD…LOL).

Here is the comparisons:

The original purchase is on the right…I spent almost $40 for a knee brace. Yes, my heart hurt, but we do what we must for bad knees.

The second purchase (on the left) shows where I spent almost $27 out of pocket and got a $5 ECB back for my next purchase.

Is this a HUGE savings? No, not HUGE, but it is $13 that I didn’t have to spend on my second purchase and was able to apply to other things. I don’t know about you, but $13 in my world pays for my coffee addiction.

Hello all!!!

With the official launch of MGM Qpon Queen I just wanted to say hello and welcome! The purpose of this site is to help you save money and share the good karma.

It is my hope to eventually start doing my own coupon matchups (matching the store ads to the coupons available), but I can’t do that JUST yet. I have to have an established and running website before the companies will start sending me updates. Just know that as soon as I can, I will do it.

Remember that this is a work in progress and I’m learning as we go on this journey together. I always welcome comments and constructive criticism.

But what is Kindle Unlimited?

“Kindle Unlimited is a new service that allows you to read as much as you want, choosing from over 700,000 titles and thousands of audiobooks. Freely explore new authors, books, and genres from mysteries and romance to sci-fi and more. You can read on any device. It’s available for $9.99 a month and you can cancel anytime.”

That’s Amazon’s official answer. I picked it up myself, and I’ve really enjoyed it. For ten bucks a month, I get to read as many of their books as I want. Since I read a fair amount of books, this has helped out my book buying budget significantly. I’m still limited by the Kindle selection (as authors have to opt in to the service) but I’ve read more this month because I didn’t have to stop and think, “Will my husband freak out at another $2.99 book charge this week?”

So, from the reader’s side of things, you pay ten bucks and you get to check out ten books at a time. You don’t get to keep them, but you can read them as many times as you want as long as the book is enrolled in the Kindle Unlimited program. It is kind of like a paid library with the option to buy if you want.
